After some
considerable research we planted Pinot Grigio, Ortega and Pinot
Noir, as being the best suited varietals for our micro climate,
soils and exposure. With the help of family and friends the first
vines were planted and we had our first harvest in the fall of 2002.
Prior to that, our Vintner Eric von Krosigk sourced grapes with
similar characteristics, so that we could commence production.
Our resident
sheep and geese help us with the weeding and fertilizing, of our
5 acre vineyard. We also have horses, chickens, turkeys, ducks and
pigeons. Each year we welcome many visitors to our farm. School
children come for a hands-on farming experience, as well as groups
of seniors who come for tea in the country a few times each year.
At Marley Farm
we endeavour to offer a fun, family setting and with our bright
new winery now open, we invite you to visit us.
