Cobble Hill Fair: Don’t miss the old-fashioned Cobble Hill Fair, real country fair held annually at the Cobble Hill Fair Grounds on the fourth Saturday in August. The Cobble Hill Fair and Exhibition has delighted visitors with agricultural displays, livestock, and great family entertainment since 1909.

For a breathtaking view, climb Cobble Hill Mountain in Quarry Regional Wilderness Park – a featured site in the movie Little Women. Parts of the old Quarry and its history can still be found – watch for the picnic site that displays a 1914 steam compressor.

North of Cobble Hill is the village of Cowichan Bay. The community and the surrounding area is home to a host of artists, craftspeople, and cottage industries – including some fine local wineries.

South of Cobble Hill are the communities of Shawnigan Lake, a fashionable summer recreation area and favourite weekend getaway spot, and Mill Bay at the south end of the Cowichan Valley. Travellers on the Island Highway can stop in at Mill Bay and enjoy the village’s quiet waterfront streets and wonderful Gulf Island views.
