Bicycles are not allowed on walking and hiking trails. The Long Beach unit of the park is the only park section that is suitable for bicycling.
This area is famous for long sandy beaches; Long Beach lies in the broad curve of Wickaninnish Bay, and stretches for 10 km. The beach at Florentia Bay is over 6 km long. Cyclists are free to explore the extensive shoreline where, at low tide, the broad expanses of beach provide enjoyable biking.
If you are planning to cycle to Long Beach you should be aware that the Pacific Rim Highway (Highway 4) between Port Alberni and the west coast is a very challenging road for cyclists – 106 kilometres of paved winding mountain highway, lacking shoulders in many areas. Heavy summer traffic compounds a hazardous situation.
As an alternative, cyclists might consider the MV Frances Barkley, a passenger and cargo vessel that operates between Port Alberni and the west coast community of Ucluelet, 10 kilometres south of the Long Beach unit. This ferry service does not take motor vehicles, but will carry a bicycle with an advanced reservation. The service to Ucluelet is seasonal. For information about this ferry, contact:

The Island Coach Lines is the bus service between Port Alberni and Ucluelet/Tofino. They will also transport a boxed bicycle for an additional fee. For more information contact:

Highway 4, through the Long Beach unit of the park, has a narrow, paved shoulder suitable for bicycling. This shoulder is absent from secondary park roads and most roads outside the park boundaries.
